“Profile Of A Singlehander”
December 28th, 2009So first off, not all sheaves are created equal! While I had the rig down these past few days I sent my old sheaves up to Ed at Zephyrwerks in Port Townsend; to have a new Main and Jib Halyard sheave made. Turn around time was a couple days and I must say Ed does some really nice work. So Aside from working on getting the rig up, I have been busy wiring my new LED Tricolor, Masthead VHF Antenna, Secondary Stern Pulpit mounted VHF Antenna, installing my Windpilot Windvane, mounting my Furuno SSB & Nasa AIS Unit–I have also been trying to figure out WHERE EVERYTHING IS GOING TO GO DOWN BELOW! It is all fine when you are wondering where to put your spice rack, but when you are talking about loading on 4 Batteries, 30 Gallons of Water, 30 days worth of food, Books, Charts, and of course my 3 surfboards; on a little Folkboat things must be STRATEGIC! Here are a few shots of the interior of Blue Moon…I haven’t had time to make her pretty but it is cozy and functional for now:

I have also been compiling some “Singlehander” information that I will be adding to my website real soon. I am real excited about the project…it will make for some interesting reading and really provide a thoughtful sliver of the unique solo sailing experience we all share. More to come….(Special Thank you thank you thank you to Rob Tryon and the Sin Ti Crew for the strategic Rig raising party we had for Blue Moon).
