Confessions Of A Bad Blogger!

First off…I must apologize. I have been a terrible blogger since reaching the shores of Hanalei Bay in the wee early hours of Sunday July 11th after spending 21 days and 18 hours. Needless to say…arriving was surreal and I am still pinching myself about the entire experience I want to thank everyone who supported me along the way! It was quite a treat getting SMS messages 1000 miles offshore from friends, family, and complete strangers; thank you thank you thank you!

I am still compiling my photos, videos, and journal entries from the trip; however in a nutshell I would describe the trip as well rounded. We had quite a bit of breeze at the start…quite a lull in the middle…and a fair amount at the end. The seas were calm…the seas were large…the seas were mixed up…and a few times the seas were breaking. Looking back on the Start of the race…scrolling through pictures of Blue Moon all powered up and pounding her way out the Gate…I think to myself “Adam, What the hell were you thinking? Were you and the rest of the fleet mad? Did you have any idea how wet you and the boat were about to get? Any idea how uncomfortable and draining those next few days were going to be? Any idea how beautiful, vast, peaceful, and ugly the ocean could be? ” The answer to all these questions is simply: No. At the start of the race…there were no thoughts of long cold nights, big breaking seas, massive freighters, large mammals…I think everybody that day was present…in the moment…reacting to the weather card we were dealt and getting on with it…
